Puck's Fair
This fair/festival is held every year in August, the people of Killorhlin in County Kerry prepare for a three day fair.
On Gathering Day stalls are opened to sell food and drink and booths are opened for trade and barter, on this day a large billy goat is decorated with ribbons and paraded through the streets. The goat is crowned "King of the Fair" and placed on a three storey platform in the middle of town.
On the second day of the fair features a livestock show. The gypsies sell and trade horses, donkeys, wagons, and carts.
On the evening of the third day, King Puck is led out of town by a piper to the accompaniment of traditional Irish music. This signifies the end of the fair.
